What has the Special Projects Group been up to lately? Last quarter, they wrapped up three more projects in addition to Ambli that we published last month!

Southlands Mall Water Feature, Clock Tower Renovation, and Landscaping | Complete

This $4 million project is a major sitework update at the Southlands Mall for clients M&J Wilkow and the Southlands Metro District. Work consisted of demolishing the existing Southlands Mall pedestrian plaza and putting in a state-of-the-art lighted water feature over a paver system and concrete basin. It also includes a play area for kids, pedestrian seating areas, and a renovation to the existing clock tower to convert it to an information center. A separate portion of the work was funded by the Southlands Metro District and includes an additional kids’ play area and all landscaping for the project. The Hyder team was Ben, Matt B, and Steve. Ben commented, “We dealt with a lot of unknowns during demolition and had a landscape architect with high expectations, but details that were not completely thought through. This caused us to be proactive and constantly looking ahead. The owners we’re very nervous about their ribbon cutting ceremony on 9.25.20 but we made it happen. Martin, Jimmy and Luis Perez were a huge help to make the grand opening happen on time.”

Cottonwood Public Works Facility Mechanical Upgrades | Complete

This $100K project was a mechanical upgrade at the Cottonwood Public Works facility that we built in 2017. The Hyder team was Steve and Luis (this was Luis’s first project with us).

Silverthorne Recreation Center Roof | Complete

This was a $775K roof replacement for the Town of Silverthorne Recreation Center. The Hyder team was Ben, Tim G, and Steve. Ben especially wanted to call out Tim’s efforts, “He went above and beyond the entire project duration to make this successful. Everything from keeping Randy May happy (not an easy task) to writing countless RFIs and most importantly, causing as little disruption as possible to the Rec Center.” Both the Town and Randy May (the owner’s rep) are Hyder LOYAL CUSTOMERS.
