Please join us in congratulating Gary Phillips for 5 years with Hyder! Gary came to Hyder at a time of transition for our department, where the old guard was retiring, and we had some big shoes to fill for the next iteration of Hyder Estimating. It was a tall task filling the position while maintaining the Hyder standard set by our predecessors.

We passed on many resumes, but Gary’s extensive work experience in both operations and estimating piqued our interest. Upon meeting, it was quickly apparent that he would be a great cultural fit and talented addition to our team, so we felt very fortunate when he agreed to come on board. Our appreciation and respect have only increased over the years as he has proven to be not only a valuable resource as a coworker but also as a friend that we can rely on, one who lives The Hyder Way every day. Gary is the first to volunteer or jump in to help, keeps the big picture in mind, maintains a steady approach through the most aggravating circumstances, and is always willing to listen and share his perspective. On top of that, he is constantly looking for ways to improve our projects, and his passion shows through in his thorough estimates, attention to detail, and (of course) his responsibilities as Hyder’s resident Memeist.

The past five years seem to have flown by and, looking back, we couldn’t have found a better person to fill those shoes. Gary has been a big part of making each day enjoyable through all the ups and downs of construction so thank you for being who you are, and all that you do Gary, we truly appreciate what you bring to Hyder every day.
