Two Elk Restaurant

About the Project

This 34,000 square foot restaurant sits atop Vail mountain at an 11,000 foot elevation, and has the distinction of being built twice by Hyder, due to an arson incident that destroyed the original structure. A shortened construction schedule, and the logistical challenges inherent with mountaintop construction, were overcome by Hyder’s detailed planning and attention to detail, such as our personal inspection of each Douglas Fir trunk column prior to their shipment from Oregon to Colorado.
