DirecTV Broadcast Facility

About the Project

This Broadcast Center is one of two facilities in the United States that broadcast satellite television signals for DirecTV nationwide, serving over 10 million subscribers 24/7, so it was imperative that the broadcast signal remain uninterrupted. The project consisted of five buildings and contained some of the most sophisticated electrical switching gear available to double the size of their existing facility. This 32,000 square-foot precast expansion of DirecTV’s broadcast facilities complex in Castle Rock included state-of-the-art redundant operating systems and FM200 fire suppression systems. Substantial underground utility work was done around the existing campus to accommodate the new facility. Project challenges presented included not disturbing existing sensitive operating systems and seamless transition incorporating ongoing operations. In addition, Hyder has completed more than 30 projects for DirecTV on both their Castle Rock and Inverness campuses.
