Hyder Starts General Building Materials Headquarters
August 23, 2017
Hyder has started on a new $3 million headquarters building for General Building Materials (GBM), which consists of a metal building addition and renovation to an existing warehouse space.
The project includes a sustainable and 98% efficient heating system. GBM generates a lot of sawdust in the course of their operations; their new heating system collects this dust and converts it into compressed wood bricks, which are then fed into a specialized boiler to heat the building.
GBM is a new occupant of this building; their previous property fell within the boundaries of Denver's planned 39th Avenue Greenway, part of the huge Denver Stormwater Systems project, so eminent domain forced them to relocate.
