Project Superintendent

Project Superintendents provide on-site leadership and manage all site activities, including production, quality control, schedule and safety. Working closely with Project Managers, Project Superintendents must be able to plan a job prior to construction to produce a workable critical path schedule and logistical solutions to major construction problems. Once under construction, the Project Superintendents are responsible for executing this plan on schedule in accordance with the project documents in a safe, cost effective, and quality conscious manner. It is also imperative that the Project Superintendent facilitate and maintain strong relationships with owners, design teams and subcontractors personnel.

Successful project superintendents must have the following:

  • In-depth experience in construction means and methods
  • Good working knowledge of all construction trades
  • Extensive experience in reading and understanding plans and specifications
  • Strong planning and scheduling skills
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Goal orientation with the ability to perform effectively under stress
  • Good understanding of scheduling
  • Physical ability to visit all areas of a construction project each day

Mid-Level Estimator

Mid-Level Estimator with 6-10 years of experience. The successful candidate should have full knowledge of all trade scopes, and have performed take off for estimates up to $25 million.


Estimators at Hyder prepare the budgets for bids and proposals for nearly all projects from concept to completion. In this capacity, it is the Estimators' responsibility to recruit subcontractors and suppliers and generate interest to bid selected projects. Estimators also work closely with the Project Managers on post-bid buyouts and design-build efforts.


Essential functions of this position include:

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and methods
  • Strong computer skills
  • Dedication to detail, accuracy and standard procedure
  • Ability to develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Strong math and analytical skills in regards to cost and pricing

Key requirements include:

  • Ability to visualize projects from conceptual drawings
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Well-established organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, both as leader and assistant
