Hyder Donates Time and Construction to Rubber Duck Races

September 10, 2013

August 31st marked the 26th anniversary of The Summit Foundation Great Rubber Duck Races. The event featured three rubber duck races down the Blue River throughout the day. The final race sent 10,000 of the yellow toys from Main Street Station streaming for the finish line at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center. Fabulous prizes were awarded to the top 50 ducks, including a week-long vacation at a destination chosen by the winner.

Hyder provided all the race day construction, including a temporary pedestrian bridge, and released the ducks for the final race. This “Duck Brigade” featured Hyder employees, spouses, and kids!

The Summit Foundation raised over $100,000 at this year’s duck race selling rubber ducks to spectators. The foundation distributes its funds to nonprofit organizations in Summit and neighboring counties that specialize in arts and culture, education, environment, health and human services, and sports and recreation. The foundation also contributed almost $200,000 in scholarships last year.
